November 2001
We all have much to be thankful for
- especially YESHUA, our salvation!
Blessings in the Holy One of Israel!
Since the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001, we have felt led to search for "truth" and to identify "lies" in our current world situation. Neil receives copious amounts of information daily via the internet, from inside and outside Israel. Much of the information has confirmed a prevalent need for believers to sort out truth from falsehood. We have prayerfully attempted to look at Israel and the U.S. in the light of the Word of God so that we might present to you this month a balanced view of the hour in which we live. Our sources have included Chuck Cohen, David Dolan, Arni Klein, Randy Smith, a Christian professor, David Wilkerson, and the English version of Arutz-7 an Israeli Newspaper.
Another source, our Jewish Jewels partners, brought us to our first, and most important conclusion: This is the hour for all true believers in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and His Messiah to open their Bibles to Psalm 91 and keep them open to that portion of Scripture. A great promise from a Great God! A powerful prescription from the Great Physician! A daily antidote for fear! A word in due season!
PSALM 91 – "He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust.’ Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you look and see the reward of the wicked. Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your habitation, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; for He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. They shall bear you up in their hands, lest you dash your foot against a stone. You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot. Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation." (Yeshua) in Hebrew
Truth
The hour of truth has come. We must be lovers of the truth because that is what our God is all about! The Torah is truth (Psalm 19:9, Psalm 119:160). Yeshua is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6). Psalm 91 tells us that God’s truth will be our shield and buckler. Phillipians 4:8 tells us to think on the things that are true. Proverbs 6:17 tells us that a lying tongue is one of the seven things that are an abomination to God. John 16:13 tells us that when the Spirit of truth comes (the Ruach HaKodesh), He will guide us into all truth.
Consider the following truths as we gather this month to thank the Lord for His many blessings:
TRUTHS
God’s eyes are always on Israel.
"a land for which the Lord your God cares; the eyes of the Lord your God are always on it, from the beginning of the year to the very end of the year."(Deut.11:12)The United States has declared war on terrorists while insisting that Israel negotiate with terrorists: This is an unfair double standard, and should be a matter of prayer for us.
Israel will live and not die. "Thus says the Lord, who gives the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and the stars for a light by night, who disturbs the sea, and its waves roar (The Lord of hosts is His name): ‘If those ordinances depart from before Me, says the Lord, then the seed of Israel shall also cease from being a nation before Me forever.’ Thus says the Lord: ‘If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, says the Lord.’ " (Jeremiah 31:35-37)
The land of Israel belongs to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. "The land shall not be sold permanently, for the land is Mine; for you are strangers and sojourners with me." (Lev 25:23)
God chose to give this land to Abraham and his son Isaac by means of a covenant. Muslims claim that God’s covenant was with Abraham and Ishmael, but the Word of Truth says: "Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his descendents after him." (Genesis 17:19)
America will be blessed if she blesses Israel, and cursed if she curses Israel. "I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed." (Gen. 12:3)
Israel became a nation in 1312 BCE, two thousand years before the rise of Islam. Since the Jewish conquest in 1272 BCE, the Jews have had dominion over the land for 1,000 years with a continuous presence in the land for 3,300 years.
The Jerusalem Foundation was formed in March 2001. At a conference in Beirut, Lebanon attended by over 400 delegates, including the Middle East’s most violent terrorists, an alliance was formed to fight the United States and Israel. This Alliance supports the September 11 attack.
The concept of Martyr (Shahid) is deeply rooted in the Moslem culture. A spokesman for Osama Bin Laden said: "Muslims love death the way Americans love life."
Radical Muslims have a saying: "First the Saturday people, then the Sunday people."
Life is Precious. Psalm 139 outlines how precious life is to the God of the Bible. Children are called "jewels." This is not the case with Islam. "Paradise Camps" were run by the Islamic Jihad in the Gaza strip this past summer to teach young children the value of being a suicide bomber.
"Islam means ‘submission,’ not peace. One of the functions of Islam is to obtain that submission from all, if necessary by force." (Quote from article by respected historian Paul Johnson, October 15, 2001 National Review)
We must repent and humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God, and seek to lead our Nation to do the same. God wants us to be like King Josiah (beginning with President Bush and our other leaders), who trembled at God’s Word (2 Kings 22:15-20). We must turn back to God.
The goal of terrorism is to make us live in fear. We must not submit to fear. (Matthew 10:28)
The Quran does not proclaim Allah to be a God of love, nor does it identify lying as a sin.
LIES
The Bible says that Satan is the father of liars (John 8:44). He appears on the scene in the early chapters of Genesis where his lies and deceit contributed to the fall of man. We read in Psalm 58:3 that the wicked speak lies from their infancy. Liars have no place in God’s house (Psalm 101:7), but have a part instead in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone (Revelation 21:8). We live in a day and age when there are many deceiving spirits operating in our midst, sometimes making it difficult to separate the truth from lies. Prayerfully, the following list will open some eyes and expose some of the lies of the enemy:
The Jews have pushed the Palestinians out of their land. The modern state of Israel was born by resolution of the United Nations on May 13, 1948. On that day, the armies of five Arab nations attacked with the intent to destroy the new nation. Prior to the attack, the Arabs living in the land amongst the Jewish people were told to leave their homes so that the Jews could be destroyed. Then they could return and have the land and homes of the Jews. The majority left and became refugees. Those who remained were offered citizenship in the new nation. Most accepted and today have a higher standard of living, (income, education, life expectancy, protection of law, etc) than the Arabs in all the surrounding nations. The refugees lived in camps outside of Israel and in 1967 began to call themselves "Palestinians." A Palestinian state will not satisfy them unless it includes ALL of Israel.
Jerusalem is central and sacred to the Muslim Religion. Jerusalem is not even mentioned once in the Quran, but is mentioned over 700 times in the Jewish Holy Scriptures. Mohammed never came to Jerusalem. King David founded the city. Muslims pray with their backs to Jerusalem. Jews pray facing Jerusalem from every part of the world.
The Palestinians are an oppressed minority in the giant Jewish state. Microscopic Israel (smaller than the state of New Jersey) is surrounded by 22 Arab nations whose population and land area are hundreds of times greater than the size of Israel.
The war in Israel is a war between Arabs and Jews over borders. This is a war between two idealogies. Who is the true God? Is it Allah, or the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob? Which is the true "Word of God?" Is it the Bible, or the Quran?
Yasser Arafat wants peace. Yasser Arafat is a terrorist, and unless he becomes another person (meets the Messiah), will continue to be a terrorist. Lying is an accepted part of his culture, and it is unthinkable that he should be part of any alliance against terrorism!
The Palestinians aren’t concerned with the issue of Jewish aliyah to Israel. On the contrary, they are very concerned! The Arabs in Israel have a demographic plan to outnumber the Jewish population within a few decades due to their much higher birthrate. They feel that immigration from other countries (i.e. former USSR) will interfere with their plans. Therefore there has been a clear call in recent months for terrorist attacks against Russian immigrants to cause fear of any more coming.
Palestinians are the victims, Israelis are the aggressors. There is a definite pro-Arab bias in the American press that constantly focuses on the "plight" of the Palestinians and the aggression of the Israelis. The truth is twisted daily.
"You Shall Know The Truth, and The Truth Shall Set You Free"
This is not a war between Arabs and Jews. It is a spiritual battle. The most feared weapon by Islam is the Gospel: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
Thank you for helping us continue to minister this message to the Jew first, and also to the non-Jew.
YESHUA IS FOR EVERYONE!
Love in Him,
Neil and Jamie
